This house was perfect for seven adults and three kiddos...the cross over to the beach was right in our backyard. It had a large patio overlooking the ocean that we spent most of our time on. It was just perfect and I'd love to go back again- or move in.
When we got there we immediately put our swim suits on and hit the beach. Avery Grace was in heaven and ran and squealed in the waves. We built many sand castles and buried lots of feet. It was so fun to see her having so much fun. Some great memories were made!
One of the greatest things about our trip is all the quality time we got to spend with Brian, Catherine and Brooks. Avery was enamored with her aunt and uncle that she doesn't get to see much since they live in Baton Rouge. Living under the same roof for five days was so great and Avery loved every second of it.
On Friday morning we decided to go to Moody Gardens for a little break from the beach. We went to the aquarium and the rain forest and saw some cool animals and sea life. Avery was more into running around and the wide open spaces to roam but the rest of us thought it was cool. Cate and Brooks stayed behind with Nana, Pops and GiGi. I'm sure they didn't miss out on anything:)
The rest of the time we were either swimming, hanging out, sleeping (if you are a baby), searching for seashells with your aunt and uncle, playing on the beach, doing arts & crafts or eating.
I have to brag on Cate for a minute...this girl had a change of heart while we were at the beach. She did amazing during the day and went down for every single nap, minus one or two, without much of a peep. Of course her nights were still the same, but the change in attitude towards napping was awesome. And then we came home...and she went back to her old ways. It just goes to show that the beach vacation was relaxing even for a newborn.
We attempted family pictures...twice. None of them turned out real great but they were okay. Having the sun in your eyes makes for some squinty people. And then some people were not very cooperative after a few shots and decided to shut down and have a toddler tantrum.
I'm so glad that GiGi came...here she is with her three great grandchildren. She and Avery were roomies and I think Avery is missing her bunk mate. I'm sure GiGi was ready to get home to her own bed without the alarm clock known as Avery.
Thank you Nana & Pops for such a great family trip. We had a blast and it was just what this tired family of four needed. Having the extra hands was a blessing and we left with some really great memories.
