Bad idea Mommy...

So yesterday, I was reading my new mommy manual "What To Expect the First Year" and I was reading about how it isn't too early to introduce a young infant to things such as tummy time and music and so on. So at the worst possible time of the day, around 5:00 pm. when Avery becomes inconsolable for whatever reason, I decided to introduce her to some new things. I started off putting her in her crib and turning her mobile on which she really seemed to like. I think the mobile was still too far away for her to actually see, but she loved the music and she lay there and moved her arms and legs around and listening intently. Then I put her on her Boppy Tummy Time mat...bad, bad idea. Our dog was more interested in it and wouldn't quit licking Avery's ears. By this time, Avery is screaming bloody murder!!! And as if I hadn't tortured her enough, I busted out our Baby Bjorn baby carrier and put her in it to see if she could chill out while I tried to get dinner together. No way...she freaked out even more! So I think in a matter of 30 minutes, I completely overstimulated my child. Not a good idea at all...we'll try again some other time but in smaller doses!!!
