This week over at
Kelly's Korner, we are touring nurseries/kids rooms. Since Miss Avery is our one and only, this should be short, very SWEET and to the point!!! Be prepared for sugar shock! Her room is very...um, bright!

Now if the coloring/lighting looks a little off, it's because we have a dark-out shade on the window. I was going to pull it up for the pictures but that darn things flies off every time I pull it up. So we literally leave it down at all times. Her room does get some great afternoon sunlight, but she naps so much better with the dark-out shades! Here is the view of her domain as you are standing in the doorway...

Again, the lighting doesn't really allow the letters to pop but her name is above her crib in pretty, curly letters! I love her white sleigh crib- I knew I wanted a sleigh crib but I was waiting to find out the sex of the baby to determine the color furniture we ordered. If it was a boy, I was going to do dark espresso furniture and obviously white furniture for a girl. The room is on the small side so the white furniture makes the room look a little bigger...at least I think so.

Here is our changing station...above it is a peg shelf that I bought unfinished at Hobby Lobby and I spray painted it white when I was about 37 weeks pregnant. Probably not a smart idea to spray paint when you're pregnant, but hey- she turned out fine! Oh and our favorite thing is our wipes warmer which is on the elevated part of the changing table. Gotta have one of those!!! They are awesome!

Here are all her goodies on the shelf...some picture frames, stuffed animals,
knick knacks and more. Hanging on the pegs are some summer hats, crosses and of course, her tutu:)

This little bookshelf was in my room growing up...I think my parents got it at
Ikea when I was in grade school.
Ikea knows how to build some sturdy stuff. There is a matching bookshelf that I put in her closet (the door to the right of the bookshelf) so I could have some storage for diapers, wipes, diaper genie refills etc. I try to keep a hefty supply of diapers on hand! Oh and do you think we have enough books??? That's not even all of them! There are more on the closet bookshelf! Avery loves being read to...we read before every nap and Mark reads to her every night before bed. On the bottom shelf are some storage baskets that hold some toys and stuffed animals.

The picture above the bookshelf was given to Avery by her Aunt Catherine and Uncle Brian (Mark's younger brother). It came saying "Heaven Sent" but once Avery was born, Catherine ordered a piece with Avery's name and birthday to go in its place. They really wanted to buy a sentimental piece of artwork for her room so she always had it to look back at. We love it Aunt C & Uncle B!!!

And here is the royal cuteness herself...sitting upon her giant, comfy throne!!! Several years ago, I managed an upscale baby boutique and we carried these
Little Castle gliders. When I found out I was pregnant, I immediately starting planning our nursery and was looking for great furniture pieces but on a budget. We didn't have thousands and thousands of dollars to be spending on a nursery. But my one requirement was that I have a Little Castle glider...and I'm so glad I ordered it because this is by far the most comfortable thing I have ever sat in. We're over this particular stage, but it made those late night/too early in the morning feedings so much better. And it comes in handy for the restless nights of teething that we've been experiencing lately!

So there you have it...the one bright, fun, whimsical room out of lots of beige and neutrals in our home! Avery is such a burst of sunshine and it's only fitting that her room match her personality. Hope you enjoyed touring our home again!!!
