Show Us Where You Live Friday

This week over at Kelly's Korner we are touring guest rooms. Ours is a combo room of a guest room/office/Mark's music room! I should call it Mark's "interest" room because he really doesn't play much anymore but he LOVES his instruments! Enjoy our combo room:)

This is what you see as you enter our "combo" room. Our secondary rooms are pretty small, so I had to push the bed up against the wall in order to maximize the space. My parents live in Dallas so it will always be important to me to have a space for them to relax and sleep. I never want them to have to get a hotel room, so I'm not sure what we'll do when we have more kids. Our house only has three bedrooms...our mistake! We should have bought one with four bedrooms. I still need to get some kind of window treatment for this room.
Another view which shows our desk...before Avery, one of our spare bedrooms was the guest room and one was our office. We obviously combined the two to make her nursery. It's a little tight but it works fine for us.
Yet again...another view. It's hard to get all the angles in just one or two shots.
My husband's priced possessions! Yes folks--that is a banjo hanging in the middle. And yes--those are conga drums. His interests and hobbies are vast and random! He loves music and is very talented. He doesn't really play much any more but he'll pull his guitar down and play to Avery some. I keep telling him he's going to have to learn some kid-friendly songs like "Old MacDonald".
I actually like having his instruments as artwork. Our home's vibe isn't necessarily "rocker" but they look nice displayed on the wall and they take up a lot of space which I enjoy. Finding artwork large enough for some of our walls can be really expensive.
And here are his drums...we can ask my parents, but I've always wondered if it's strange to wake up in the morning with drums at your feet!!! I'm sure they don't mind though.
There you have it...our guest room/office/shrine to all things musical! Hope you enjoyed the tour. Have a happy weekend!

I like the idea of putting the instruments on the wall, good way to keep them out of the way! I also like your desk chair.
