More of the same

Same song, second verse! We are still hanging in there, chugging along, growing & thriving...we're still figuring out Cate's feeding/tummy issues but hopefully are moving in the right direction. We've switched formulas once again to one that we actually tried about a month ago but only for a day or two. This is a completely broken down, amino acid based formula for babies who have an allergy to the milk proteins in normal formulas. It is the most gentle and easily digested formula out there, and the cost shows that! She goes in for an endoscopy next Thursday to really see what's going on inside her little body. I pray it's nothing but at the same time, I hope there is something explaining why she is so uncomfortable and upset. Her reflux medication hasn't really seemed to make a difference, and not that she doesn't have reflux, but that obviously means that reflux isn't the main cause of her pain. Please keep our sweet little monkey in your prayers. She so deserves to feel well and enjoy being a baby!
Despite the onward struggles, Cate continues to grow and thrive. She is actually starting to sit pretty well. Avery was a lug and didn't sit until right after the 6 month mark. We're going to have to start bathing Cate in the bath seat in the actual tub because she is a dare devil in the infant bath tub. It's about to get put away! I pulled out the high chair so she had somewhere else to sit while we're all in the kitchen, but also to get her used to it. Hopefully we'll be able to start solids soon, of course after we stabilize her liquid feedings.

Avery is a hoot and surprises us every day! She now knows my phone number and can repeat it when asked, which I guess is a good thing. She has a boyfriend in her class at school, Vincent, who she talks about all the time and has dubbed him "Prince Charming". I'm begging God to stop the clock and keep her little because I'm not ready for the boyfriend thing. And Mark REALLY isn't ready for it.

She is doing well with her cast but it doesn't come off until the day before Thanksgiving. Bath time is really the only inconvenience and it hasn't bothered her at all. She continues to amaze me with how adaptable of a kid she is. And I'm so thankful for that! She's a special girl and we love her to pieces. Her 3rd birthday party is next weekend at Gymboree and we're all looking forward to it. I'm especially looking forward to it because it's not in my house!

I love these girls! Parenthood is hard work, physically and emotionally. And it's definitely been emotional these last few months. But the rewards that come with it are immeasurable. And hearing "I love you so much" makes all the stress, frustration and chaos worth it.
