This week Avery and I tried out Stomping Grounds in Sugarland. They open at 9 am (which is awesome because no one opens this early) although we didn't arrive until 10. It did take me about 20 minutes to get out there from my neck of the woods. We went on Monday morning and we were one of of maybe a dozen or so parents and children. They have a really large climbing play section for ages 3 and up and then a smaller section for toddlers ages 1 and 2.

Thursday Activity Review
With a very active toddler and summer quickly approaching, I've been racking my brain to come up with ideas to keep Avery busy this summer that wont break the bank. I've researched and googled and have a long list of things that we're going to try out over the next few weeks. I also thought it would be a good idea to review these places and excursions for any other Houston moms who read my blog. So every Thursday for the next few weeks I will write about our weekly adventure.
Avery started in the toddler section and loved it. She climbed up and went down the slide probably 30 times before coming back over to me for a quick break. The toddler section is smaller but I like that. There aren't any steep areas that she couldn't manage and it is contained nicely. She and I actually braved the big kid section...it is very big. Big enough that I could comfortably climb through it with her. But once was enough and we went back to the toddler section.

By 11 am a group of school kids arrived for a field trip but they were over in the bigger section so it didn't even bother us. At the most there were 5-7 kids playing in the toddler section at one time. After observing various ages of children playing in the toddler section, I think it would be best for the beginning walker who can climb too up to the normal, active 2 year old. If they aren't walking quite there isn't much they can do.

They are names Stomping Grounds because they serve a wide selection of yummy coffee. I didn't try any but we did eat lunch after playing. Their food is very reasonably priced. Avery's grill cheese and fruit cup lunch was around $3.50 which included a drink for Mommy:) Admission prices are reasonable too. Children under 1 are FREE, ages 1 & 2 are $4.25 and 3 and up are around $7 I think. All adults are free!!! So for around $8 total we had a cheap adventure for a Monday morning and will be going back for sure. I love playgrounds but with the heat that Houston gets we will be looking for fun inside activities this summer! Overall, I give it a A- with my only complaint being that it is farther away!
