Summer so far

At the end of every school year, panic starts to creep in as I wonder what am I going to do with the kids?  The summer is going to be so long!  They are going to be so bored...I'm going to go crazy.  And every year, I am proved wrong.  I actually like the laid back feeling of summer, of not having anywhere specific to be.  We can come and go as we like.  Ironically, this is not my personality at all.  I like routine and plans and things to do.  So what have we done this summer???
We have had many movie days, picnicked in the living room, played in the new cottage, bickered some, colored a lot and more...
This is a totally random picture but it makes me so happy.  Cate has, for quite some time now, been able to eat normal meals.  She drinks milk (rice) and eats pasta (rice noodles) and normal foods.  It seems so small, but seeing her with a plate and a cup of milk makes me giddy.  Other FPIES moms or moms of allergy kids can relate:)  I'll do a separate update on Cate's eating soon.  We've come SO far!

The girls play outside in the sprinkler and baby pool quite a bit.  They can't wait for Daddy to come home from work so they can go outside and splash.  I flee to the gym!

Here's one thing we haven't been doing much of...running.  Or going for walks.  It has been insanely hot out.  Hey, it's Houston.  But we had a cold front and it was around 75 one morning.  The humidity was still at 90% but I had to take advantage.  We went for a run for the first time since probably May.  I've run solo more recently than that, but I stopped taking them because running with them is literally pushing about 80 pounds.

We love our cute little neighborhood so much!  Cate had her party at the park, we joined in on our 4th of July parade and we just went up to the pool for the first time this summer.  We packed dinner for the girls, got some sandwiches for us and had dinner up at the pool.  It was a perfect summer evening!

July is half way over and I'm sure August is going to fly by.  And then school will start back up for Avery, soccer for Avery, gymnastics for Cate...have I mentioned how much I like lazy old summer?!?
