From the zoo to the farm

Mark had Good Friday off so off to the zoo we went...along with a million other Houstonians! It was insane trying to find somewhere to park but once we got inside it wasn't too congested. It was beautiful out and everyone seemed to have the same idea for a family day. It was so nice to be able to do something all together. Mark doesn't get to go to the zoo with us and Avery especially enjoyed having him come along.Cate did fantastic and was very chill. Sadly, she spent most of her time alone in the stroller! But I think she actually enjoyed seeing some animals and people watching. She has always enjoyed being out and about.Nap time was brief since it was in the car but both girls passed out for awhile. When we got home, our new stroller had been delivered. I so desperately wanted it to come before we went to the zoo but oh well. We are now the proud owners of 3 strollers. It's crazy, I know. I love our big double stroller and it's perfect for walks in our neighborhood since our streets are so uneven and broken up. We also have a gravel walking trail that makes the big green stroller ideal. Avery is at the age where she likes to be a bit more independent and when we're at the mall or a doctor appointment, I end up putting Cate in our small single stroller and making Avery walk. It's hard to explain, but she still needs to rest her legs sometimes. So this new "Sit n' Stand" stroller is perfect for her (and would have been perfect for the zoo today) because she can hope on the back and sit on the little bench seat or stand for a second and rest her legs. Then she can get off and get a closer look at the animals. We will use all three strollers a lot over the next several years!!!
We came home for a bit and then headed up to Clay's for an early bite to eat. This was our first time and it did not disappoint! It's the most family friendly place I've seen in Houston and we will be back for sure. It's mostly patio and porch dining with a huge area for the kids to explore including petting and feeding animals, a giant sand box and horse rides. Avery had a blast and I'm sure is dreaming pleasant dreams about all the animals she encountered today. She played herself ragged today!
Today was a perfect day together...although Mark and I are unable to move and are about to go to bed. It's 8:30. We are worn out but we had a lot of fun together. I love being able to do such fun things with the girls. And I can't wait for Easter! Pictures to come...
