Christmas Part Deux

Christmas was just PERFECT! We had such a wonderful few days together as a family and really enjoyed watching Avery get into it this year. She understands the concept more, both the birth of Baby Jesus and the Santa part. On Christmas Eve, we went to the family service at church, aka the "wiggle service". She could not have loved it more- she was so good and ate it up, especially when Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus came out. Oh how I loved watching her sweet little face light up during church. I was choked up the whole way through.
Every year our church has live animals outside the sanctuary, kind of like a petting zoo but without letting the kids inside with the animals. You can even see the camel in the background. Totally up Avery's alley and once again she was in heaven. After church we went over to Shelfers for a yummy tamale dinner before THEY went to church. We were going to look at lights but it started pouring hard, so we made the decision to just go home. After bath time, we wrote Santa a note and left his cookies and milk out. It was just so cute to see her get into it!Christmas morning, we had to wake Avery up so we could get moving! She awoke to Santa's half eaten cookies and a thank you note. Then she saw the kitchen he brought her- she was still half asleep but in awe.Beware of picture overload...it took just a few! We opened stockings and presents and enjoyed our time together as our little family. I can't help but think how different Christmas will be next year with two kiddos:) Avery played and played and played some more...while we finished cooking our part of Christmas dinner for later. We got ready and headed over to Shelfers to open presents with them. What I have learned from this Christmas is that our daughter is spoiled rotten...she has so many new toys, it's embarrassing! The other thing I've learned is that we need a bigger house for these toys- a play room would be fantastic. In all honesty, I just need to go through all of her toys and put away the ones she's too big for now. Sounds like a nice 2011 project. After opening presents with Shelfers, we went out to the Woodlands to celebrate with Mark's entire family at his great aunt and uncle's house. Avery was a trooper, missed her nap entirely that day and never melted down. She did however pass out the minute we got in the car. Christmas can be so tiring! As usual, I feel beyond blessed to have Mark and Avery in my life but also two wonderful families to celebrate these special times with. God never ceases to amaze me, in fact he humbles me. Merry Christmas to you and yours and here's to a wonderful 2011!
