Hurricane Ike

It's been several weeks since we were inconvenienced by Hurricane Ike. Our ancient computer crashed the day before the storm hit. So we were without internet access much longer than power. We were one of the lucky few who had power restored quickly after the storm subsided. Ike hit in the middle of the night, around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Mark and I didn't sleep much as we listened to branches fall on our roof and the wind whistle around our house. The next morning was eery as we surveyed the damage to our neighborhood. God was so good to us...we had minimal damage (except some to our fence) and our power was back on by Sunday afternoon. I was about to pack up and head to Dallas to stay with my parents. Being 8 months pregnant and without A/C was not going well for me. Luckily, we were able to help out friends who were still without power. Our good friends Emily and Mike became our roommates for the week. Overall, the situation could have been so much worse and we are thankful that our family, friends and our house survived. Enjoy the pictures!

Our backyard the next morning...notice the pine tree "resting" on our neighbor's house!

More trees down...
