Staying Busy

Our summer is coming to an end, not by weather standards but by school standards!  It has completely blown by.  When it was just Avery, I was constantly looking for things to do and keep her busy and us on the go.  But things have just found us this summer and it's been a whirlwind!!!  We've travelled, played, visited, swam, learned and so on.  I have a few other Pinterest activities that we tried and thought were share worthy.  I made "cloud dough" which is just flour and baby oil.  It makes a soft, yummy smelling substance to mold and play with.  Avery loved it and I give it five stars!!!  Plus you can close the lid and play with it over and over again.

Our local garden center does a kid day once a month and we went for their butterfly day.  The kids "learned" about which plants attract butterflies and decorated butterflies made out of coffee filters.  Overall, a free activity is always good!  It was so extremely hot though- we didn't last long!

Cate is 14 months old tomorrow and is growing so much.  She still doesn't say much and has not a single tooth.  She is cutting at least four teeth right now so she's been extra fussy lately.  She is now riding forward facing and loving it.  She's doing okay with her tummy issues...she has a new food on her safe list.  Peaches.  She somewhat likes them.  Just this week I started giving her carrot chunks.  This is a big deal although it might not sound like it.  Not only is her FPIES about certain foods that she doesn't tolerate/allergic to.  It's also about the consistency of the food and the amount she takes in.  All these things factor into her reaction to the food.  Up until now, she's only eating pureed homemade foods.  She does eat puffs everyday but her safe foods have always been in pureed form.  We're trying to move things along but be cautions.  It's a very fine line to say the least.

We had "Rainbow Day" earlier this week and did another fun sensory activity found on Pinterest.  Again, Avery loved it and I give it five stars!!!  I dyed rice in different colors and dumped it in a bin that we can close up and play with later.  Genius!

We did some rainbow arts and crafts, Avery wore her rainbow shirt and had a fruit rainbow for a snack.  We had a lot of fun but it was exhausting.  Thankfully, school starts in less than two weeks.  I'll let the professionals handle the learning and teaching from here on out:)
